What do you reach for when you need a mid-morning or afternoon snack?  It’s not always easy to find something quick to grab on the go that’s healthy.  We have lots of grapes and bananas, things like that, in the house, but I’m not apt to take them when I’m in a rush in the car.  And let’s face it, I don’t often make time to sit down and eat my snacks at the dinner table.  It’s more like shove a bite in whenever I have time.

So I was really glad to have the opportunity to review nimble by Balance Bar. These are healthy snacks that you can easy take on the go.  Sounds pretty perfect.

Nimble Bars are made with Truvia.  And they’re only 120 calories.  Truvia is an all-natural, zero-calorie sweetener made from the Stevia plant. I actually grew Stevia in my garden last year!  120 calories is just perfect for a pick-me-up snack.

These bars follow the Balance Bar 40/30/30 nutritional model.  That means 40% of calories come from nutritional carbohydrates, 30% come from quality protein, and 30% come from dietary fat. This combination helps to keep you feeling full, stabilize your blood sugar, steady your mood and improve energy.  So forget about that post-candy bar I-really-need-a-nap feeling.

They’re good for your body and good for your skin. Nimble bars contain protein, fiber, and calcium, vitamin D and iron – all things that are good for a woman’s body.  But these bars go the extra mile by providing nutrients like antioxidants, beta-carotene and 10mg of FloraGLO® Lutein, all ingredients that help maintain healthy skin.

peanut butter nimble

Nimble Bars come in two popular flavors: Peanut Butter and Orange Swirl.  Mmm…peanut butter!  I liked the taste of both of these bars, though the softer texture isn’t my preference. I like something with a little chew or crunch to it.  These are smoother bars and while I thought the flavor was good, I didn’t love the consistency.  My husband liked a lot, though, so I think it’s just a matter of personal preference.

If you could use a healthy snack to take on-the-go (what woman couldn’t?!) then look for these nimble Bars in your local store or shop online here.  You can keep up with all the newest products and promotions by following Nimble on Facebook and Twitter.

Now for the really awesome part of my review: a giveaway to go with it!  And this is a great one.  Balance Bar Nimble is generously offering one of my readers a nimble and Quickie Chick prize kit that features all kinds of goodies valued at $109!  Go check out everything that’s included and enter to win here!  This giveaway is open to US residents and ends at midnight ET on June 26, 2012.
